Stithians, also known as St Stythians, is a village in the middle of the triangle bounded by Redruth, Helston and Falmouth. Gribbas Corner is an area within Stithians. This profile of Gribbas Corner Wesleyan Chapel has been compiled by Jo Lewis and Tony Mansell.

 

John Wesley visited Stithians in 1744-50 and brought Methodism to the parish. (Wikipedia)

Travelling down Foundry Road, this was a small Wesleyan chapel on the left (south side) before the crossroads at Gribbas Corner. On the corner of East Road and Treverbyn Parc with the band room on the other side of Treverbyn Parc.

A Wesleyan Methodist chapel is recorded at this location at Gribbas Corner, Stithians on the 1st and 2nd Edition 1:2500 1880 and 1907 OS Maps. The building is still shown on the current Mastermap but has been converted to a dwelling. (Cornwall Council Heritage Gateway)

Non-Conformist. There were Wesleyan and Free Methodist chapels in this parish. (Genuki)

St Stythians Band extended the building and it became their band room.

St Stythians Band moved to a new band room.

The chapel, and the attached “old” band room, has been converted to a dwelling.
