This profile of Kestle Mill Wesleyan Chapel has been compiled by Jo Lewis and Tony Mansell.

Located at the south-west corner of the minor junction in the village, at the ‘Trerice Turn’ bus stop and north-west of Summercourt along the A3058.

Heritage Gateway: A new chapel for the parish of Newlyn East, seating 200 people on the main floor with provision for a gallery to be added at a later date. 1888: Opened as a Wesleyan chapel.

There were two windows depicting John and Charles Wesley from the sanctuary.

1867: Registered as a Wesleyan Chapel.

1874: The Christian reported: “At Kestle Mill, we are also rejoicing over many brought to the Saviour. Although the population in the neighbourhood is small, from forty to fifty persons have professed to find peace.”

By 1881 both chapel and the adjacent Sunday school were present.

1932: The Wesleyan, Primitive Methodist and the United Methodist Church amalgamated to become the Methodist Church of Great Britain.

1932: became Kestle Mill Methodist Church.

1940: Seating for 170. (Revd David Easton)

1971: Closed and the windows were moved to St Columb Minor Methodist Church.

On the 16th December 1972 a plaque was unveiled at St Columb Minor Methodist Church in memory of this chapel.

1984: For sale with planning permission for two dwellings. (West Briton and Cornwall Advertiser – Thursday 02 February 1984)

Converted to residential.
