Brane is a hamlet southwest of Sancreed in west Cornwall. Jo Lewis and Tony Mansell have compiled this profile of Brane / Brane Moor / Carn Euny Bible Christian Chapel.

 

CARN EUNY – Post Medieval nonconformist chapel. Small Methodist chapel, now converted to house and altered. Circa 1840. Granite rubble with granite dressings under a half-hipped roof. Late C19 gabled porch with central lancet in front of side doorway. (Heritage Gateway)

 

1845: Founded.

Seating for 108.

1851: William Rowe was steward.

1907: The Methodist New Connexion, Bible Christians and United Methodist Free Churches amalgamated to become the United Methodist Church.

1907: Became Brane Moor United Methodist Church.

1932: The Wesleyan, Primitive Methodist and the United Methodist Church amalgamated to become the Methodist Church of Great Britain.

1932: Became Brane Moor Methodist Church.

Papers relating to surrender of chapel, including correspondence with Department of Chapel Affairs, The Methodist Church; Borlase & Venning, solicitors, Penzance; and Jewell, Hill & Bennett, solicitors for landlord. 8 Jul 1970: Counterpart surrender of lease, Brane Moor Methodist Church, Sancreed. Parties: 1) Fred B Jenkin, William G Warren and Leonard E C White of St Buryan; George C Jenkin, Alfred Lawry, John L Remphrey, Gordon Roberts, William H Wherry and William R Wherry of Sancreed; Joseph E Jenkin of Camborne; William C Remphrey of Heamoor, Penzance and William J White, of Hayle, chapel trustees. 2) Reverend S Quick, Wesley Manse, St Just Churchtown. 3) Samuel T Jones and wife Prudence Audrey Jones, of Brane Moor, Sancreed.
