Long Rock is approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) east of Penzance and 1 mile (1.6 km) west of Marazion. This profile of Long Rock Wesleyan Chapel has been compiled by Jo Lewis and Tony Mansell.

 

Long Rock (Tolverth) Chapel is located on the road that heads north-east from Long Rock itself to the A 30.

Wayside Methodist chapel with integral schoolroom at rear. Granite rubble with Granite dressings under dry slate roofs with crested and pierced clay ridge tiles. Simple Gothic style with pointed arches and buttresses dividing the front bays. Symmetrical 3-bay front side with central gabled porch. Low granite coped forecourt walls and granite gate-piers (part of wall removed). (Cornwall Heritage Gateway)

New organ. (Cornishman – Wednesday 17 September 1924)

1932: The Wesleyan, Primitive Methodist and the United Methodist Church amalgamated to become the Methodist Church of Great Britain.

1932: Became Tolverth Methodist Church.

1940: Seating for 110. (David Easton, Methodist Minister and historian)

1945: “… Saturday, the scholars of Tolverth Chapel, Long Rock, had their annual … After parading the village, with the Penzance Silver Band, the children went to a field, lent by Mr. B. Stevens, where they were refreshed with tea and buns …” (26 July 1945 – Cornishman)
