Cornish Story explores and records the culture and heritage of Cornwall from the distant past down to the present day through the publication of books, online articles and film.
The Cornish Story Management Team
Garry Tregidga is Co-Director of the Institute of Cornish Studies. He was awarded a PhD at the University of Exeter in the 1990s and subsequently published extensively in areas like regional politics and the Celtic Revival. He is the founder of Cornish Story and the Rescorla Centre with the aim of making Cornish research and Celtic Studies more accessible to a wider public both in Cornwall and overseas. His research interests cover areas like oral history, political studies and ethnomusicology. He is also developing the publications programme of Cornish Story with new volumes being planned on topics like politics, spirituality and the Cornish Diaspora.
Lamorna Spry was awarded an MA in Cornish Studies from the University of Exeter. She is a former Trustee and Chair of Cornwall Heritage Trust where she founded the popular Cornish Story Cafes where people socialise whilst enjoying interesting talks about Cornwall. Lamorna instigated the Cornish Story Live series and has a particular interest in the Newlyn riots and Cornish migration. Prior to retirement, Lamorna worked as a physicist and IT specialist in industry, the Ministry of Defence and Local Government.
Tony Mansell is the author of several books and many articles on various aspects of Cornish history. In 2011 he was made a Bardh Kernow (Cornish Bard) for his writing and research, taking the name of Skrifer Istori. He has a wide interest in Cornish history and is a former Heritage and Culture Officer of the Federation of Old Cornwall Societies and a founder and researcher of the Cornish National Music Archive where his specialisms are brass bands and choirs. His former career was in construction and as deputy head of Business Link Devon and Cornwall.

The Rescorla Centre
Garry Tregidga, Founder and Director
The Centre is based in Rescorla’s historic Methodist chapel in mid-Cornwall where it presents cultural and educational projects relating to Cornish history, literature and the performing arts, both past and present.
The centrepiece of its activities is the annual Rescorla Festival (began in 2008) and they would welcome contact from musicians, dancers and storytellers who would like to take part in future events.
