This Month’s Cornish Articles and Poems
This article is a brief summary of the history of the Royal Institution of Cornwall (RIC). More comprehensive information can be found in the Royal Institution of Cornwall’s Journals 2018 and 2019. Copies of these Journals can be found in the Courtney Library at the Cornwall Museum, River Street, Truro.
The chapel was packed: every seat filled, every corner occupied. The response was huge and they now listened intently to the impassioned pleas of the revivalist preacher. Soon, he would have them in the palm of his hand.

Rescorla Cultural Centre Events
(Cornish Story is a part of the Rescorla Centre)

Creative workshops and events at the Rescorla Centre with an emphasis on Cornish History and Craft delivered in association with Cornish Story and the Institute of Cornish Studies. Click here for details.
Saturday 20th June: The Rescorla Centre will be exploring the relationship between Family and Place in a Cornish context. In the morning, at 10.30am, there will be a discussion from the perspective of individuals and it is hoped to record these contributions so that we can start building an archive on this subject. In the afternoon, at 2.30pm, Deborah Johnson OBE will talk about her connection to the Vivian family and its ancestral association to both Cornwall and Wales.
Events include:
Cornish Studies Group on the third Saturday of the month at 10.30am.
Celtic Music Session on the third Saturday of the month at 7.00pm.
Kegin (Cornish for ‘Kitchen’) session on the last Saturday of the month at 10.30am. Food, music, singing, dialect readings, and poetry around the kitchen table.

In accordance with our aim to promote a greater knowledge of Cornwall and the Cornish Diaspora overseas, we are pleased to details of films, books and articles relating to all aspects of Cornish culture in the past and present.

Elizabeth Dale was born and raised on a farm near Falmouth and has been writing about Cornish history for local and national publications since 2016. She is passionate about celebrating and preserving Cornish heritage and culture and her blog, The Cornish Bird, is an eclectic mix of more than 400 articles focusing on the lesser known stories from Cornwall’s past.
