Bible Christians were probably first Methodist society in Newquay.
Circa 1802: Unsuccessful attempt to establish a Wesleyan Society meeting in a fisherman’s cottage near where the harbour would later be built.
1809/1810: William Bryant (later O’Bryan) established a Society in Newquay. It was reluctantly accepted onto the Bodmin Plan. Later known as the Bible Christians or Bryanites.
Possibly 1851: Built a chapel in the Deer Park, now Sydney Road (Sydney Rd BCC).
Built as a Bible Christian Chapel (SWChurches)
1907: The Methodist New Connexion, Bible Christians and United Methodist Free Churches amalgamated to become the United Methodist Church.
1907: Became Newquay Sydney Road United Methodist Church.
1932: The Wesleyan, Primitive Methodist and the United Methodist Church amalgamated to become the Methodist Church of Great Britain.
1932: Became Sydney Road Methodist Chapel.
1939: Organ overhauled and repaired. (Cornish Guardian – Thursday 25 May 1939)
1940: Seating for 169. (Revd David Easton)
Circa 1977: Closed. (Revd David Easton)
Became a car park and housing.
