Mapping Methodism – Beacon Primitive Methodist Mission Room

Categories Mapping Methodism0 Comments

Beacon is a village southeast of Camborne. This profile of a possible Beacon Primitive Chapel has been compiled by Jo Lewis and Tony Mansell with considerable input by David Thomas of Camborne.

Location: 35 Trevu Road (previously Beacon Hill)

From Beacon heading towards Camborne, on the right, and almost opposite Pendower Terrace, lies this low building. It is thought to be a Primitive Methodist Mission Room, referenced in local literature.

1879: Appears on maps but not labelled as a Primitive Methodist building.

The former Primitive Methodist Mission Room on Beacon Hill, on the other side of the road from and almost opposite Pendower Terrace. It is one of the Parish’s almost entirely forgotten places of worship and is now a private residence. I don’t have any early exterior or interior images of this building and there is not much documentation on it. The mainstream Primitive Methodist Church ceased to exist as a denomination in 1932 on Methodist Union in that year. Does anyone alive remember this building in use as a chapel or have any information or reminiscences about it? (David Thomas of Camborne)

It is now a private residence.
