Categories Mapping Methodism, Projects2 Comments

Helston is a town at the northern end of the Lizard Peninsula approximately 12 miles (19 km) east of Penzance and 9 miles (14 km) south-west of Falmouth. This profile of Helston Wesleyan Chapel (Central Methodist Church) has been compiled by Betty Pascoe.

  1. just a minor point!! Breaney has NOT closed and continues to grow out at Breage. Some members of Breaney decided to join the Central society in 2016.
Shame there does not seem to be a picture existing of Pre Helston Wesley and the Epworth Hall when a chapel.

    1. Hello Paul,
I have only just picked up your comment re my work on Central Methodist Church Helston. Point taken, and of course I am aware that Breaney is still very much ‘up and runnning’.True some members chose to join ‘Central’ but Breaney should not have been included in the list of closed chapels. Sorry about that and I shall endeavour to effect a correction.
As far as I know there are no photographs of the interior of the Epworth Centre when it was the Chapel . The nearest I could get was a local newspaper report which mentioned that someone had photographed a particular event there – I think it was the first Harvest Festival, but there’s nothing to show for it.
I trust all goes well for you in your ministry at St Austell.
      Apologies for my late response.
      Every blessing.
      Betty Pascoe.
