Greenbottom is a hamlet in the parish of Kenwyn in Cornwall on the Penstraze Moor between Saveock Water and Threemilestone, near the A390. It is situated south east of Penstraze. This profile of Greenbottom Wesleyan Chapel has been compiled by Tony Mansell.

Build date unknown.

Wesleyan wayside chapel, early C19, extended late C20 when converted to commercial premises. Rendered walls, dry slate roof. Round-arched window openings. (Cornwall Council Interactive Map)

1849: Chapel held under a lease of 29 September 1849. (David Thomas, Kresen Kernow)

1887: “The Wesleyan chapel and Sunday school sold by the Chacewater auctioneer Matthew Moyle on 27 September 1887 (MRT/721).

Later this Wesleyan chapel became a carpenter’s shop run by a Mr Moyle and he in fact was responsible for making many of the distinctive fretwork fronted wooden pulpits/rostrums in many of the local chapels I was told back in the 1980s, one example being at Threeburrows, now closed of course. Kresen Kernow holds virtually no documentation at all on this defunct Wesleyan chapel., as it was an early closure and its records have not survived. It is not shown as a chapel on the 1906 OS map. (David Thomas, Kresen Kernow)

The redundant Wesleyan Chapel in use as offices (Jo Lewis)

Converted to offices and was being used as such when this profile was prepared (2021)
