United Methodist Free chapel, later used as Sunday School (map evidence) now used as village hall. Rendered front with dressed granite doorway. Simple classical style with round-arched openings. Symmetrical 2-window front with large round date panel to gable; wide central doorway. 2-storey side elevations suggest a galleried interior. (Cornwall Heritage Gateway)

1857: The Wesleyan Methodist Association and the Wesleyan Reform Church amalgamated to become the United Methodist Free Churches
Became the Sunday school when the new church was built in 1890.
Became the Methodist Hall for the village.
2016: Sold.

United Methodist chapel. Dressed granite, granite rubble and freestone dressings, giving a polychrome effect. Interesting eclectic design incorporating principally Italianate and Gothic elements; round-arched openings.3-bay show front, the central bay with taller arched panel containing rose window over 3-light mullioned window. Other bays have small round windows over doorways with traceried fanlights over panelled doors, all original glass. 4-bay side elevations and lean-to at rear. Interior not inspected but likely to reflect the complexity and interest of the exterior. (Cornwall Heritage Gateway)

The present chapel was built in 1890 and seats approximately 150 people.
1907: The Methodist New Connexion, Bible Christians and United Methodist Free Churches amalgamated to become the United Methodist Church.
1932: The Wesleyan, Primitive Methodist and the United Methodist Church amalgamated to become the Methodist Church of Great Britain.
1932: Became Paynters Lane End Methodist Church.
1948: “Paynters Lane End Redruth Silver Band. Mr A. S. Grant, headed the Parade at Paynters Lane End Sunday-school at their tea treat on Saturday …” (17 June 1948 – Cornishman)
2019: Closed. (My United Methodists)
Planning permission granted for conversion to residential.
Members have united with Bridge and Redruth to form a single new society, known as Gateway, Porth an Dre. (https://methodist121.org.uk/chapels/paynters-lane-end/)
