Polpeor is a short distance to the west of Trencrom Hill. This profile of Polpeor Wesleyan Chapel has been compiled by Jo Lewis and Tony Mansell.

 

The chapel is set back from the corner as you come into Polpeor from the Trencrom side.

1887: Lelant Sunday School Tea: “The annual tea of the Polpeor Wesleyan Sunday School was held on Tuesday. The Lelant Downs Band was in attendance…” (9 June 1887 – The Cornish Telegraph)

1932: The Wesleyan, Primitive Methodist and the United Methodist Church amalgamated to become the Methodist Church of Great Britain.

1932: Became Polpeor Methodist Church. (SWChurches)

1938: Closed. (David Easton, Methodist Minister and historian)

1939: Closed. (SWChurches)

1940: Seating for 120. (David Easton, Methodist Minister and historian)

1940: “FOR SALE BY TENDER. SALE BY TENDER, Wesley Methodist Chapel, Polpeor. Freehold. Tenders sent to Rev. J . O. Urmson, 9, Pednolver Terrace, St. Ives, by December 7th. ‘Phone Ives 280.” (Cornishman – Thursday 21 November 1940)

1942: Sold.

1960s: Shown on maps as Old Chapel house.
